Yes, you are quite right! At least to use it every day at work.
I was studying English for five years at the University and thought that I knew it. It was not until I came to Moscow and studied it with the native speaker, I understood that I could hardly speak and understand the native speach. It was 5 years ago. A lot has changed since that time. Now I am working in a Western company, and still learn something new day by day.
I also would very much like to visit some "meetings" or to acquaint with native speakers. Only not Christian church missionaries or baptists. I had an experience and fed up with it.
I mean only best way in generally studying English. ))
So my advice only is to study it generally with native ones )) not there.

Your English is very good in contrast mine.
Mine? My english is not so good as I want. Also I think that I do mistakes very often, but I try to write without thinking )) (like we write in russian) and i do not use dictionary when write ))

I am absolitelly agree with you! Every day I find something new: new word, new rule, new conversation. And it it very good that I do not must to memorise it - memorising is automatical
We should to think in english, not to translate form russian. But it is not easy.

Easy, easy....not so quickly!
I thought that I will get the beginners not profi.
I offer to start with simple sentenses. What do you think?
For example could you show me my mistakes?
For me it is easier to explane some things in English rather than in Russian. And sometimes when I do not check steadily after my thoughts and start dreaming, I catch myself in thinking in English...

Lucky you are... I am a perfectionist in this matter... even when I doubt I check the spelling in the dictionary. But it is mainly when at work, I must not make mistakes in the reports.

You should have written: I thought I would....
The rule is: Sequence of tenses. But in oral speech grammar moments are not crucial. People will still understand you!
I also make mistakes. The main rule for people who study or use a foreign language is not to be afraid of speaking, writing and making mistakes! IMHO
"Speaking English is a problem for me" or "My problem is speaking English" sound much better to my mind. There's a stable phrase in English: "to speak English" without prepositions.
It is not that bad! Through watching films you will learn to understand the speech flow. That can help you in understanding of the native speech. And do not miss a chance to speak with a native, if you have any.

I want more....!!!
You will definitely have it from me!
P.S. Your English strikes me better than your Russian.
It is hard for me also. I think this is the harddest thing in sdudying.
aandrey , цитата:
For example could you show me my mistakes?
Also please show me mine ))
For this phrase it is better to say (IMHO)): "Could you please show me my mistakes?"
But I can't to correct becouse I don't absolutelly sure that I am always right

My problem is speak in English. I can write in English better than speak.
You will be able to solve this problem only by active speaking, and better with the natives.
Yes!

Sure!

Just to correct myself: I try to write withourt dictionary. So in simple conversations like there I do not use my "lingvo".
I use it in serious business e-mailing, like you in your reports, and also MS word helps me to correct 1-letter mistakes.

I think it is depends on situation. Some times it is easer to use English, some times - Russian, some times no correct transtation can be found.

Where is one who will help me? Now I can only read and watch films in English.
Special courses with natives will help you. One of them is Language Link
